I finished two more books in the last week... The Darwin Conspiracy by John Darnton (book #46)and The Crucible by Arthur Miller (book #47.) I didn't realize until I was getting ready to write this that the topics were quite a contrast!
The Darwin Conspiracy is a fictionalized account of Darwin's voyage on the Beagle and his life and family. It is spoken in three voices - Darwin's, his daughter Lizzie's, and of Hugh Kellem, a modern day researcher. Because it was fictionalized the book left a lot to be desired, but it did kindle a desire to read more about Darwin and possibly also his Origin of the Species or the Descent of Man.
I listened to The Crucible on an audio book - with Stacey Keach, Richard Dreyfus and others performing the play. It was very intense and moving - and also felt very contemporary given what is going on in the Middle East right now. I am horrified by what people will do in the name of religion, and how it always seems it is the innocent and honest people who end up sentenced to die.
