Change Is Coming

And the change that is coming is the tree service to remove several trees in our yard. The walnut (above) hangs over the driveway and is in danger of falling over as it leans out over the driveway from the higher level yard. The woodpeckers love it and have drilled a grid of holes up and down the trunk, but we know it is time for it to go. The 100' poplar, a 100' fir, and a large double alder behind the house are going too. I actually have trouble sleeping when it is windy because I'm sure these trees will fall on us....the fir has all of its branches on one side, making it a hazard, and the double alder has an old logging chain imbedded in it, with one of the trunks being already losing bark. The poplar is very old and brittle; it is less than 10 feet from the house and ancient as they come. I couldn't do this unless it was winter; in the spring there are too many birds that nest in these trees. I hope they all find a new home in the spring one tree over - we still have many hundreds of trees for them to use.
