The Hummingbird's Daughter
Mexico has been on my mind lately, for obvious reasons. When I saw this book on the shelf at the library, I grabbed it. Paul read it first and loved it but then it was my turn to read The Hummingbird's Daughter by Luis Alberto Urrea (#32) and be transported to rural Mexico and the enchanting story of the Saint of Cabora, Teresita Urrea. This is the true story of the author's aunt which he researched over twenty years. Urrea is a master storyteller - and for those of you wondering if you would like it - the tone of the writing and the way the story is woven reminded me of One Hundred Years of Solitude.
Now I have to decide what to read next. I think it will be Haruki Murakami's After the Quake.
