Crazy Bananas in Winter
I know the picture above is pretty murky, but I thought it was light enough this morning for a quick picture, and it obviously wasn't.
Doesn't it look cold? It was. We've had several days of freezing weather here and it has really made a mess of the bananas. We are trying an experiment this year - seeing what happens when we don't cut the tops off before frost and don't protect the roots. They are out of control enough that we wouldn't mind if they were damaged a bit by the winter.
Our first frost came about November 25th - 25 days after the accepted last frost free date. Is it a fluke or related to global warming?
