Tiko is the newest member of the Black Dog Farm flock. Isn't she beautiful? Actually, we don't know her sex yet - it will be another 7-10 days... Tiko is a Yellow Shouldered Amazon. She is a domestic, hand raised bird - four months old. The breed originates in Venezuela, and is (depending on what you are reading) pretty rare in the wild. Her (his?) temperament is very sweet. She likes to step up on your fingers and is already an enthusiastic eater, even with all the stress of the drive home from Seattle, meeting four dogs and Maya, a new cage, and all the rest. I'll have more to tell as we all settle in to the redefined shape of our flock.
