More books...

I recently read "The Shadow of the Wind" by Carlos Ruiz Zafon. It is a wonderful book that takes place in Barcelona about 1945. Books are the central theme. One character, an aspiring writer, said "...a story is a letter the author writes to himself, to tell himself things that he would be unable to discover otherwise." When I read that I immediately thought about this blog - and how I have discovered a number of things about myself just through the process of writing. Here are some more books I've read recently: Jonathan Strange & Mr. Norrell - Susanna Clark (About magic in England about 1800) The Good Earth - Pearl S. Buck (China) Never Let Me Go - Kazuo Ishiguro (Just read it) The Bookman's Promise - John Dunning (Mystery about booksellers) The Miracles of Santo Fico - DL Smith (Italy) When We Were Orphans - Kazuo Ishiguro (China) Manana Manana - Peter Kerr (Mallorca) The Shop on Blossom St. - Debbie Macomber (Knitting) Nice Big American Baby - Judy Budnitz (Strange stories) As you can see from the picture above, our grandaughter also loves to read.
