Happy Me

I have no regrets about choices I've made in my life - they are what they are, and I made those choices based on what seemed best to me at the time. But the best decision I made was to marry Paul. We met eight years ago in July, and by November we were married, the third time for each of us. Both of us had thought that it was "bad enough" to have failed twice, and that it was impossible to conceive of taking the plunge again. But then we met. Well, sort of. We met on an internet dating site, and exchanged e-mails for weeks before finally talking on the phone. Via e-mail we were able to get to know each other in a way that isn't possible face to face. We discussed our beliefs and shared the articulate, funny and vulnerable sides of our personalities. When we finally met, our walk around Green Lake turned into a visit to a festival and then dinner. From that day forward, we have been together. I believe that both of our past relationships were just marking time so we could meet when we would be ready to recognize each other. Thankfully, we did.
