Three days in the garden
I know most people look forward to a three day weekend to get out of town - go camping - visit people - something planned and noteworthy. I guess I am no different, but my big weekend was spent in the garden, and it was a pleasure every minute.
Paul & I worked together most of the time, which was fun, too. We cleared out three of the weedy raised beds and got the watermelons, canteloupes, and cucumbers in. We read "Melons for the Passionate Grower" by Amy Goldman last year and had decided we had to have a bunch of heirloom melons this year. Three beds of melons! Gonna be fun if it happens.
There is still a lot to do outside - I have lots more to weed whack, there are more beds to get ready and get planted, and never enough time or energy. But it feels wonderful to have such a good start.
